So, yesterday, I was a person with an audience of about fifteen people, who visited regularly and sometimes commented and sometimes didn't. Most of you I knew in real life and a few of you I didn't, but felt like, if we were to meet, it'd be weird at first, but after a few beers, we'd be laughing it up and you'd be asking me if the Butcher really does seem to own ten Phish shirts which differ only slightly in color, and I'd be asking you weird things and it'd be cool.
Then I linked to Bitch Ph.D. who linked back and I about died of flattered. It's very cool. But today I've had more different people read me in the course of an hour than I have... ever, and I'm thrilled, but also intimidated as shit.
So, basically, I'm just writing this to acknowledge it and face it: that it's weird to suddenly find yourself with a bunch of people you don't know and won't ever know reading what you've written and worried that they'll read that one post and shrug and never come back and worried that they will come back and that they will expect similar posts from me, when really, I mostly write about my dog and my brothers.
Whew, who knew there could be so much navel-gazing in one post?!

10 Phish shirts only differing slightly in color? That's just silly.
I'm sure the tie-dye patterns differ as well.

Oh, the tie-dying. Don't even get me started, except to say that it is never okay to tie-dye someone's favorite shirt and I'm still bitter about it.
You write with consistent quality. Do not fret.
I enjoy you. They will too.
Dude, I've known you since you had a pen on your door that used frog pee for ink. Or so we claimed. :) In those 800 million years or however long it has been, you make interesting points rather you're talking about something deep and serious or not.

P.S. Did you send your ghosts up here, or did I just loose my can opener through completely unsupernatural means?
Hey, I'm a stranger from the other side of the world and so forth and so on... but you write well, and I like your site.
I also really liked your post about being rural poor. It articulated how I feel, also being 'rural poor' but passing for 'urban middle class'; some experiences transcend nationality, I think.
Keep writing.
Kate.
Man, I'm glad I got in on the ground floor.
But that's all good stuff. You are a fine writer and deserve a wider audience.
Now, about those beers....
Not only is Aunt B. a great writer (embarassing string of compliments deleted) but, after you've had a few beers and, if she likes you, some JELLO Peanut Butter Cup Dessert she might write you into her stories (or write about you which, to use one of her favorite words, nevers fails to tickle me).
This just occured to me... B., do you think that dessert could stop the anti-pudding league, once and for all?

Y'all are too kind! I promise, I'll try to keep the insecurity to a minimum and the cussing to a maximum, as always.
Peg, as for beer, you never know. I get the feeling you live somewhat near my aunt B. who is just northeast of Joliet. Of course, someone is going to have to do something about either the price of gas or the size of my paycheck before I get up that way again. Unfortunately.
Shill, oh, I hadn't thought of that. I kind of hope they don't have those Jello peanut butter cup things in England or it will be the end of the Anti-pudding League, and I love that guy. How can anyone resist those? Have you made them for the Legal Eagle yet? If not, I will taunt him.
"I promise, I'll try to keep the insecurity to a minimum and the cussing to a maximum, as always."
Fuck yeah!
I have not made them for LE because my kitchen skillz are suspect and he no longer lets me in there. But feel free to taunt him!
