The Butcher's Art
Here's an example of the Butcher's art. This is a great piece, I think. It reminds me of those pictures of galaxies. Our place is decorated in all kinds of pieces like this, in various states of done.
Right now, he's working on one and video taping it as he's doing it. It'd be pretty cool if he could then speed it up so that you didn't have to watch it for hours and hours.
Anyway, I talk so much about what he does, I thought you'd be curious to see it.

I like it. It reminds me of Italian marbled paper. It would appear that he uses something to blow the paint around like that.
Oil or acrylic? On canvas (or so it seems, as I can see some of the texture coming through) or board? What medium does he use? Linseed oil? Turpentine? Gel? Matte medium? What is the size?
Inquiring minds want to know.
Hold onto your hat. That's crayon! He does that with crayons and an embossing gun on crappy canvases he gets at the craft store. That one is, I think 7x10. I'll ask him for the total skinny this evening and get it for you.
Wow! Crayon! Very nice.
Have him price that at $200 and I bet it sells.
Or, he can sell it to me for a few bucks plus shipping and handling. It would look delightful in my office.
I love it. I see gnarled trees, a red moon, an ominous spirit and a floating fairy.
This is VERY cool.
Question: Do the peices ever melt? I mean, do you have to watch which wall you hang them on to make sure they don't get full sun? Or does he have a way of treating them or something?
I'm intrigued.
He has had one melt on him when the person he made it for left it in the trunk of his car for a week, but the ones hanging around the house seem to be fairly stable.
I'll ask him when I ask him the questions of Peg's I didn't know the answers to.
The Butcher says he doesn't know if they'd melt in the house. He's never had one melt, except the one in the car (and the exploding one). He puts modge podge over them, but he wouldn't feel confident saying that they're never going to melt.
I see that this might be a problem in getting the art to his patrons.
Oh, if it's crayon it will most definitely melt again, ModPodge or no. That is the nature of wax, after all.
He needs to get himself some proper paints and just have at it.
And I gots me a fancy dee-GREE in that shit, so's I should know.
